We are in the process of putting a banner on our ‘myNKU’ portal (which all fac, staff, students must use), as well as the password change page:

Usage of Northern Kentucky University systems, networks, and services is governed by official NKU Information Technology and NKU Security Policies.  By accessing these resources you agree to use all information technology resources responsibly, and comply with NKU policies and guidelines, found at http://it.nku.edu/itsecurity/policiesguidelines.php

We opted to not have the available ‘Windows’ security banner (below) changed since that would require updates to pc’s, so we opted to use the web landing pages for key services (Portal, Password).  We may add a banner to lab pc’s at some point – using the Windows option –  below.   We do not have anything specific/different for research or grant-based systems.

Anthony:

Our banner can be found at http://help.unc.edu/help/login-banner-message-for-use-with-any-system-that-hosts-nonpublic-services/

We created this a few years ago when there was a re-write of some IT policies.

Sincerely,

YEARS ago, NU used to have the following on things like UNIX servers, modem pool terminal servers, etc etc. "This system is for the use of authorized users only. Individuals using this computer system without authority or in the excess of their authority are subject to having all their activities on this system monitored and recorded by system personnel. In the course of monitoring individuals improperly using this system or in the course of system maintenance, the activities of authorized user may also be monitored. Anyone using this system expressly consents to such monitoring and is advised that if such monitoring reveals possible evidence of illegal activity or violation of University regulations system personnel may provide the evidence of such monitoring to University authorities and/or law enforcement officials." I don't really see a lot of systems still using this. Our login banner was cited at even. :) -- Julian Y.
