Hello group, unsure that this could yield to some validation or measurable results, but just looking to see how many (IT) PM's and how big your IT organization is.

For instance, we have a staff of ~160 IT professionals with 3 project managers dedicated to IT projects.

You?

Thank you,

Shady

~60 in the IT group, PMO of one.

Most of our units are starting to evolve a pseudo- project coordinator role (who isn’t necessarily the unit leader/manager) to get attuned to PM practices, reporting etc. for their group. They don’t take any significant responsibility over a project.

We have central IT staff of 80.5 and distributed IT of 80.5.  I am the only person titled IT Project Manager.  This is a new concept for the organization and was established by our new CIO in January.  Currently, all ‘projects’ are managed by the individual department director or manager.

At Mason, we have about 250 staff in our Central IT unit.  We've got a PMO staff of about 3.5; with two PM's, one more junior staff who works on our technology, and one .5 FTE who helps with some communication and outreach.  The majority of the heavy lifting is done by the 2 PMs.

UW Madison has about 600 employees (without student employees) in its IT division, one PMO within the IT division (6 PMs and 2 BAs). Most PMs at PMO handles campus-wide and/or system-wide IT projects. Division/department specific IT projects are handled by individual departments what own the projects. Ching-tzu Chien
The University of Hawaii system IT office has a little over 160 employees.  This number represents those in the central IT office and does not include students.  In addition, many campuses/colleges/units have their own IT staff which this number also does not include.  There is 1 PM, responsible for a few of our high profile applications as well as a couple of big ITS projects.  There are perhaps a half-dozen or so others who fill the PM role within their application areas and report to their respective directors.  The PM reports to the interim CIO.
