Greetings,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a telecom billing system. UWM is looking for a telecom system that will be used to:
  1. maintain its line (land lines and cell lines) inventory
  2. track all telecom-related jobs such as adding/disconnecting/moving lines
  3. handle telecom billing - UWM has a charge back system; our telecom staff needs to be able to
    1. set up different charge back structure based on type of lines (land line or cell line), rate plan (domestic long distance or international), or usage
    2. charge the campus based on the department or grant (sometimes a line is set up for a specific grant)
  4. interface with our telecom vendors' systems - the state contract changes every 3 -5 years. We also have several vendors for different types of lines (cell, long distance, local). The system needs to be flexible enough to interface with our contracted vendors without going through major data conversion whenever the vendor changes.
  5. produce billing statements for our campus users
  6. keep historical telecom data for up to 7 years

Any recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, TX uses Compco’s Telecom management system to do charge backs.  It has been in use for many years here. It has been a good tool for our situation.  It interfaces well with our SQL & Oracle database tools.  Customer support has been a good experience with Compco too.

The University of Utah (and I believe BYU and Weber State) use Pinnacle. It's big and comprehensive and something of a bear to get going on, but worth the effort because many operations are vastly streamlined with this toolset. The tradeoff is that it takes a little more effort to get the work orders into the system.

Cornell University has used Pinnacle in production  for 12 years.

Also, another thing to note is that Pinnacle and Compco have merged and you can find more information at these two links;
