We always have a good in-person meeting at the annual EDUCAUSE conference.

Is anyone besides me from this constituent group planning to be at the EDUCAUSE Midwest Regional Conference and, if so, would you like to have a breakfast or lunchtime roundtable?

Thanks very much!

Members of the EDUCAUSE Research Support Constituent Group may be interested in this whitepaper that reviews the reports of NSF's six cyberinfrastructure task forces.  The whitepaper is written for multiple audiences and includes implications for campus leadership.

Hi all,

I thought you might be interested in this. Patrick Dreher is a visiting scientist at MIT. In this interview, he discusses how institutions can fulfill the promise of campus cyberinfrastructure. More information is at:http://www.educause.edu/blog/gbayne/PodcastInterviewPatrickDrehero/233306

What tools are you providing to support to large dissertation files, especially those containing multi-media?

One of our doctoral students is using a large number of photos in his dissertation. It is about half written at this point, and is 442.3 MB.  The faculty adviser just wrote to us looking for a way to both work on it (so the adviser can comment and edit and the doctoral student can continue to work on the same document).

They uploaded it to a Dropbox account, but are now noting the computer takes a very long time to download it each time.   So they contacted us for advice about using Google Docs.

We use Google Docs on campus for some things and we've implemented Xythos.  I've now warned the faculty adviser about the risks of using Dropbox or Google Docs for original intellectual property.  But on the other hand, I'm not sure I know the best tool to offer.

Do you have any suggestions about how they might be...
