Colleagues The Research Computing Constituent Group will be meeting on Wednesday, October 16 from 3:40-4:30 p.m. in Meeting Room 208 A/B. As in past years, we have arranged for a lead off discussant to describe an issue of interest to the research computing support community. This year it will be Ralph Zottola (http://www.educause.edu/members/ralph-j-zottola) CTO of the UMass System, who will describe the new Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center: The Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC) is more than a data center dedicated to supporting the growing research computing needs of five of the most research-intensive universities in Massachusetts: Boston University, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts. MGHPCC is a multi-dimensional transformational project traversing a wide spectrum of disciplines and challenges. Efficiently leveraging information technology, research, private, public sector and government partnerships, economic development and green, sustainable energy as a nexus may be unique in totality to MGHPCC; however, taken in isolation there are riches of lessons that can be applied to an entire universe of projects. The MGHPCC represents the most significant collaboration among government, industry and public and private universities in the history of the Commonwealth, and it is the first facility of its kind in the nation. Subsequent to Ralph's lead-off discussion, we will open up the floor for discussion of other topics of interest to the RMS community. We hope to see you there.
