I know there was a post by Parkland College two or three weeks ago that I responded to about how they are being audited by Novell.  North Carolina State University has been going through the same thing.  We recently ended our relationship with Novell when we moved our campus to Active Directory.  A few months later, we were contacted by Novell's Compliance Manager and was told that we under reported our FTE since 2002. We contend that we did no such thing.

This matter was then turned over to our Legal office and that's where it lies now.

I too would like to know if other universities are going through anything similar with Novell.  I think it would be very helpful for our attorneys to speak with attorneys at other schools to compare how this is being defended.

If your school is or has gone through an audit with Novell regarding under reporting FTE, please contact me offline at

UNT uses eDirectory and have migrated off of their other products 5-6 years ago.  We have never been audited and Novell would have no way of knowing that you under reported for FTE for a number of years.  They could have compared your reported numbers with IPEDS, but those numbers are headcount, not FTE.
