Time flies and I should have sent this last week!

Our face to face meeting is Tuesday November 6 in Denver, 4.30-6.30 PM Mountain time. Room 605/607

I was excited we were not conflicting with the opening reception and then I figured out why, it is election day.

I already have received two agenda suggestions:

-        Net plus licensing

-        Presentation and discussion of a working group on VDI/VCL licensing issues. Sharon Pitt (GMU will lead)

So let me know soon for additional topics, especially if you have questions for the group or vendors. Below I included last year’s agenda so you can see some of the topics areas. Let me know!! Just click on the mailto below to send me a reply

I have gotten a few queries about connecting in to the meeting remotely for those of you not making the trip. EDUCAUSE is working on it! Adobe Connect is being used by the CIO session just in front of our meeting so we believe yes.

Reminder, please send in your items soon, preferably by Wed. THANKS

Will you send connection info out to the group if that ends up being possible? I also wanted to connect into the meeting.

Thank you.

For those who are not attending Educause, will there be a bridge number that would permit dialing in to the meeting?

Thanks,

Debbie

Our intent is an Adobe Connect. The session just before us (CIO meeting) has one so EDUCUASE seems pretty confident we can use that. I just don’t have the info yet. Sorry. It MAY be identical to what Theresa Rowe will post for the CIOs but I am not sure. I have copied Lida (who always knows or knows who knowsJ)

Hi Marg,

Adobe: last year or so, Sharon Pitt made a very good suggestion regarding Adobe’s licensing posture in Higher Education.

I, among others, applauded her suggestion and looked forward for a response/follow-up from Adobe.   I am not aware this

follow-up took place.    Please include this, If possible, as an item: Adobe Licensing.

Thank you.

Amin

I would love to but

The working group has been speaking with Adobe and the timing is not right from Adobe as they work on things

Great idea though! In fact when I learned the Adobe timeline was going to miss our Licensing meeting, I was a bit whiney in my response up to Adobe.

And I certainly will welcome Adobe being in the room and contributing!

Regards, Marg

BTW, one of my questions to Microsoft is from this blog :

http://blogs.wsj.com/cio/2012/10/15/microsoft-surface-sets-up-cios-for-giant-compliance-penalty/

I almost understand or do understand many aspects of the virtual things and MS licensing, but these comments about Win 8 etc do lead to some questions I can think of…

Hi Amin,

I'll be covering most of this during the final agenda item, which is the update of from our working group on VDI and similar issues this past year.
