Hi,

We're starting an evaluation phase to determine the advantages of application and/or desktop virtualization primarily for our computer labs (Windows and Macs) as well as possibly student laptops.

If you have any feedback, recommendations, available white papers / studies, or web links / references would help please let me know.

Sincerely,

John

John,

IU has been deeply engaged in a virtualization project over the last 18 months, and we are now beginning the roll-out to all faculty, staff, and students.  In our proof-of-concept, we found application virtualization to be quite a bit less expensive in the data center, and are headed down this road for the majority and delivering total desktop virtualization only when totally needed.  We are happy to have a discussion w you if you wish.

Hi John,

You may want to check the Educause CIO listserv as there has been quite a bit of recent discussion related to VDI that list.

Best wishes,

Tom
