Hello All,

I’m looking for suggestions on companies you have dealt with when it comes to  hardware purchasing  (desktops, laptops, and monitors).  We are currently going directly to the manufacturer and would now like to look into purchasing through a 3rd party vendor.   Any information you can provide would be great.

Thanks

Hi Treiva,

Loyola University Maryland uses More Direct (www.moredirect.com) for these purchases.  We’ve had a good relationship with them for about eight years now.  Let me know if you’d like more detail.  Thanks!

Albright College in Reading, PA (not too far from West Chester) uses IntegraONE (http://www.integra1.net/) for third-party purchases of HP units. We've been working with them for around two years now and I'm rather happy with their prices and support. Prior to purchasing through IntegraONE, we bought most of our units directly from Dell, but the price difference for we were offered by IntegraONE for comparable hardware was (and still is) too large to ignore.

We still purchase directly through Apple when we want an Apple product though.

If you want any additional information, feel free to contact me.

Interesting……this is the group that used to be “PC Connection”……are they also related to “GovConnect”?

I do use GovConnection for hardware purchases at St. Bonaventure University and have had a very good experience over the past several years using them.

Our Dell and Lenovo gear are bought direct; Apple products through our bookstore.

Peripherals not Dell or Lenovo I can get through CDWG and Gov Connection.  CDWG tends to beat Gov on most prices and Gov sometimes has products CDWG doesn’t have.  Service is about equal.  We are located on top of a mountain and basically 2 or more hours from any major city so we do not see on-campus reps that often.  You should not have that problem being where you are located.

3rd parties may offer value added services that you might be able to get ordering direct.  Check into asset tagging, custom box labeling, imaging, etc.

Good luck …

Hi Treiva,

We buy most of our computer hardware through GovConnection- I have been working with them for around 10 yrs. (2 schools) and they have been consistently good. If we ever have a problem with a product, they will usually have a new unit out to us the same day without any questions.

Thanks,
Mike
