Message from becky.klein@valpo.edu

Hello everyone,

I apologize to anyone who receives this multiple times since I'm cross-posting.

Valpo uses lynda.com, and one of the challenges I always face is how to promote and market the service on campus.  To that end, I've created a Google group called "lyndamarketing" to use for discussion and brainstorming about how to promote usage on our campuses.  You can access the group here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/lyndamarketing

If you're interested in joining, please request membership!  I welcome more members and hope to get some good ideas going soon.

Thank you!
-Becky Klein

We (Ben Arnold & myself) have looked at the reports briefly and as the

records are date/time stamped you can export to Excel and analyze more

readily than from within Lynda.  One thing we've found is that viewing a

video for just a few seconds lets the viewer get their "certificate" of

completion even though the % viewed isn't 100%.  We are authenticating

via Shibboleth using Active Directory credentials though I have noticed

some "strange" account names that I will be looking into one of these

days.

We are promoting to incoming freshmen (and their parents) during

orientation session which is great as we get the opportunity to discuss

resource like this with the *parents*.  We also place posters in our

Student Computer Center that nearly 100% of our student body utilize.

We also promote via articles in our electronic newsletter promoted via

email.  While these methods are appropriate I am not sure they are

working that well.  Word of mouth has been spread by many of our faculty

particularly the Curriculum and Instruction area and that is working well.

Here is a sample showing my Individual Usage Detail:
