Greetings all,

I am looking for software to create professional looking organizational charts. Our group has been maintaining one through Photoshop and it takes too long to get things updated with it.  Does any one have any good pay or free suggestions? Thank you ahead of time.

Either…..MS Visio…..or Matchware’s MindView…..

Michael

I second the recommendation about Visio.

Other options: PowerPoint 2007/2010, Word 2007/2010, (both have shape art for organizational structures), FreeMind, XMind.

If you are a mac user then OmniGraffle is a nice option.

I use a free application called YED Graph Editor.  You can download and run the installer, or run a java version from the web.
Hi,

An alternative to the big programs already mentioned, I'm a fan of Lucidchart.com. I chose to use it as a Visio alternative on my Mac, and it's quite user-friendly with good results. There's a 2-week trial available as well.

(Sorry for the delayed response—catching up on e-mail backlog!)

SmartDraw 2012 worked well for me – did an org chart on it and it’s good for lots of other diagrams.

Since I haven't seen anyone else chime in with it yet on this thread, OmniGraffle. Does charts, maps, labels, and much, much more.

If you are looking for a good price, check out the org chart in Excel

The price is right and most users should have the software already.

Thank you to all for your thoughts on which software to use for creating and maintaining organizational charts.  I have obtained a copy of the newest version of Microsoft Visio to create our org chart with and find it easy to use.  I did look at and evalate each of the recommendations given.  The extra abilities of charting and diagramming with Visio made it a better choice for us.  Thank you for you suggestions.
