Director of Learning Technologies at Union College

Hi everyone, I have a great opportunity available here at Union College. Please pass this along to anyone you think would be interested. Thanks. Ellen --- Union College, a highly selective liberal arts and engineering college of over 2000 undergraduates, founded in 1795 and located in Schenectady, NY, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director, Learning Technologies in Information Technology Services. Reporting to the CIO, the successful candidate will provide vision, leadership, and advocacy for the effective use of technology in teaching, learning and research. The Director coordinates the efforts of the Learning Technologies staff, including personnel and financial management. This position is responsible for exploring, piloting, and assessing emerging technologies and participating in grant development and implementation, as needed. The Director also provides technical and instructional design support to faculty and departments for a variety of technology-enabled pedagogies, assists in the professional development of faculty in the effective use of technology, and also facilitates collaboration between Union faculty and Information Technology Services. In addition, this position oversees support and management of a variety of learning spaces, including labs and classrooms. The Director will also spearhead research computing efforts, especially those being supported by Union’s high performance computing cluster. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred with an educational or instructional technology focus preferred. Experience in Higher Ed academic computing environment, or similar service environment, and a minimum of 5 years of successful management experience in a service-oriented technology environment required. In-depth knowledge of technologies used to support the academic and research programs of a college or university. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required with the ability to provide services to a diverse group of student and faculty clients. Teaching experience a plus as is experience with learning space design and familiarity with high performance computing projects.
