I haven’t received any correspondence from this group since May 4th.  Has it shut down?

Kim, I don't think it's shut down, there just hasn't been much discussion so far this summer. It's been the same way on the College and Schools of Engineering IT CG that I co-lead. Do you have anything you want to see discussed? But probably a good time to talk about a powerful women in the STEM area who just left us – Sally Ride
While not an "IT Woman" per se, she certainly has done a tremendous amount to inspire girls and women to pursue science and technology.

I didn't realize how much Sally Ride meant to me until I heard she passed. It really hit me. As a girl coming of age in the 80s, she showed me that I could do anything, including going to space. I do not think I am alone. --Christina Klam Network Engineer Institute for Advanced Study
I felt the same way. And I've heard about "Sally Ride Science" which I hope will flourish even more in her memory. I remember a story after she went into space about a little boy who was talking with his mother and was really sad. When she asked why he said: "I'm sad that I won't be able to go into space because I'm a boy." This always struck me as urban myth, but it's a nice myth nonetheless. Rest in peace Sally Ride. You were an inspiration to all of us STEM girls. Janet
