Hi all,
I'm having some trouble accessing educause.edu right now to look at the archives so I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

I'm looking for a digital signage reseller/installer/etc in the SF Bay Area.  I'd like to talk about the various options with a company that actually does this stuff.  Recommendations?

Thanks,
allan

We are looking at expanding our Digital Signs to putting one in each residence hall.  My question for the group is on screens:

What size are you using?

What brand?  Are you happy with the brand?

Are you using monitors or televisions?

I would appreciate any suggestions/input you have.  Thanks

Hello, We are currently in the process of upgrading our current digital signage solution. One of the elements we would like to add are RSS feeds for various topics. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding news, financial, weather, or other feeds? We are looking for something that is free or low in cost and appropriate for public viewing in a university environment. If anyone should have suggestions or could pass on information at what is being used at your current institution, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Stephen Wilmers Manager Multi-media Services Michigan Technological University ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion listserv can be found at http://www.educause.edu/groups/.

How does IPTV work with digital signage?  For example, suppose I want to play a TV channel on a portion of the screen, with digital signage information on the side and bottom.

Where is the IPTV added into the digital signage system?  At a central location, like a data center?

Or is an IPTV set-top-box used at every TV, which sends the signal to the digital signage player (also at every TV)?

Thanks!

Hi, We are about to begin a process for a content management system. The most important job of the CMS will be to support a network of five large MicroTiles video walls. However, we are also hoping that the CMS can be used to run the rest of our digital signage network, which consists of Cisco- and web-based e-boards. Does anyone have success or horror stories about attempting to run a heterogeneous display network of this complexity from a single CMS? I've been asked to provide digital signage for my department, and this is all totally new to me. I'm interested in hardware recommendations for our installation. I recently came across the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS). The idea, if I understand it correctly, is to have a very small standard dimension / standard interface computer that can be plugged into a monitor. It also includes the capability for a system manager to redirect KVM for remote management. This might be something worthwhile or simply some vendor's way to increase profits. We'll have a simple system at first (two monitors between 40" and 50", likely displaying different information). Our campus has Four Winds software, and I'll be connecting into that. Are any of you familiar with OPS or Four Winds? What would you do if you were me? ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion listserv can be found at...
