Hello,
We are beginning to look at replacing our current blade server chassis (IBM Bladecenter H) and rather naturally since we recently implemented Nexus 7Ks at the core, our Cisco rep wants to pitch us the cisco solution.  I am wondering if anyone has experience with implementing UCS.  I have looked at some highly-recommended (not by cisco sales) videos by one of the folks who worked on the project and is no longer with Cisco (http://bradhedlund.com/2011/03/08/cisco-ucs-networking-videos-in-hd-updated-improved/) and .... am interested but certainly not sold.

They seem to be moving a good deal of the intelligence up above the servers, to a sort of management/switching platform called a Fabric Interconnect.  Would be interested in hearing from people who have worked with this, good, bad or neutral.

best,
Dennis Bohn

We run it here.  Just about to bring my second machine room cluster online.  I'd be happy to talk offline if you want.

We're starting year three of our UCS implementation along with Nexus. I'm running 5 VMWare hosts and a handful of other servers and have been very happy. I'd be glad to chat offline.
