I know Pete sent out an email a few weeks ago regarding the EDUcause Midwest Region Conference (March 26-28 in Chicago, if you are interested and haven’t yet registered). I’d like to also let people know that the Northeast Regional Conference (NERComp Annual Conference) will be held March 12-14 in historic Providence, R.I. I couldn’t convince the schedulers to provide both a Wireless and NETMAN session on the schedule, so they have been combined. That means I’ll be doing my best to fill the shoes of Pete, Brian and Philippe… in 60 minutes or less. I hope to see some of you there (Early Bird registration ends Monday, 13 February). Thanks, Brian Helman Salem State University

Hi Everyone,

I hope the ending of the semester is going well for all. We are working on getting things together for the annual conference in Denver. And I am hoping all of you will be able to attend. We are putting the final touches on the session we are hosting and things are going well.

One of the plans is to host a meet & greet somewhere during the conference. I would love to have this as a sponsored gathering where we could do some networking and exchanging of ideas. I am open to all options, so if you have an idea please share. Or if you know of any organization or company that would be willing to sponsor us, let's talk. The conference is in Nov. so we would like to secure something rather soon.

I will send along more information about the session we have planned in the coming weeks.

Again, Thanks for your support.

All, One of the initiatives at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is a redesign of the policies and practices around human resources. One of the key discussion points pits efforts to increase diversity in the work force against internal hiring. Our current situation is based on having open recruitments, with the intended goal of hiring the best possible candidate. This makes it hard to have career development that leads to advancement in position. The redesign team suggested an internal hiring process to help develop careers. It was then pointed out that if you don't have a diverse work force (and that's is our opinion about our campus), a new internal hiring practice will hurt attempts to increase diversity. Would this be an interesting topic for discussion at the conference? Bob On 5/8/2012 10:38 AM, Richard Skip Bazile wrote: > Hi Everyone, > > I hope the ending of the semester is going well for all.
