Good morning, I want to thank all of you that responded. I have already investigated XMedius, and have a WebEx demo for RightFax on Friday. I have also reached out the sales departments for Biscom and Multi-Tech. I will be more than happy to share the results of my demos and final selection when we're done. ___________________________________ ___________________________________ Fishel Erps Sr. Network & Infrastructure Engineer School of Visual Arts LL: 212-592-2416 Cell: 347-539-6380 Fax: 732-626-6532 E-Mail: ferps@sva.edu ___________________________________ ___________________________________

I'd be very interested in hearing the results, probably some other list members (or future archive readers) too... Hello, I just wanted to reply with a follow-up. We evaluated XMedius, RightFax, and Biscom. In the end we chose XMedius as our solution. My experience with the various pre-sales support and account representatives was extremely positive across the board, and I can gladly give you the contact info of the people that I spoke to. Here is a brief breakdown of the key features/factors that led to our decision. Again, the below is my opinion based on the WebEx demos and Q&A sessions. RightFax: Great piece of software; it seems to do everything. Unfortunately, that is precisely the problem. It is a system with many bells and whistles - many of which were just not relevant to our business model. A big negative was the price-point. It was excessive compared to the others on the list. Considering that it has many features we would never touch, this was very prohibitive. Biscom: A nice little piece of software that did exactly what we wanted. However, it wasn't as elegant as the other two. The price-point made it the lowest costing option of the group. However, once we added on all the potential-for-use modules that we could foresee using in the future, the price was equal to the XMedius Solution. Additionally, adding these add-ons brought its functionality up to the same out-of-the-box functionality that XMedius had without adding anything. XMedius: A great piece of software that had everything we wanted at a very reasonable price. We installed the demo (which is fully functional) software on a VM server running Windows 2K8 R2. Once the software was installed, the basic configuration for functionality was accomplished within about 30 minutes (including the configs on the Cisco UCM - we chose to go with an H.323 gateway config). We are currently in the process of procuring a range of non-overlapping DIDs, and I look forward to a pleasant rollout. If anyone has any other questions, please feel free to contact me off-list. ___________________________________ ___________________________________ Fishel Erps Sr. Network & Infrastructure Engineer School of Visual Arts LL: 212-592-2416 Cell: 347-539-6380 Fax: 732-626-6532 E-Mail: ferps@sva.edu ___________________________________ ___________________________________ ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/groups/.
