We are about to engage a vendor to work with us to upgrade our blade-center server, which runs VMWare Hosts.  I am curious what kinds of questions you ask prospective vendors or integrators when considering working with them.  The marketing guys are generally overly optimistic (to be as kind as possible) so we  try to get the engineers involved as quickly as possible.  Of course, asking for references is good and actually following up and checking the refs is also good.  What other questions do you ask to surface the capacity of the vendor to execute the project successfully and with the minimal misunderstandings and maximal satisfaction?

If you would like to respond privately, that is fine.  If useful, I'll summarize for the group.
