Nice traffic spike today due to IOS7 downloads.

How are you guys controlling it, if at all?

Looks like our upstream is having fits as well....

We are just letting the users consume the bandwidth.  We have a gig pipe to the Internet, so I am assuming we will be fine, although I am keeping an eye on it.

We thought the same. We ended up having to cap the iTunes traffic to limit the negative affect on all the rest of the traffic. This is 62GB today, 9% of our total traffic (actually 18% as ours gets double counted).

I am assuming you have a 1Gbps link to the net as well?  What product are you all using to specifically limit iTunes traffic?  Do you have a 3rd party device, or are you using something like your next gen firewall?

Been keeping an eye on it but there haven’t been any issues.

Hey Patrick, Check out the wiscnet aggregate graph! The akamai caches served the majority of the traffic: http://www.eng.wiscnet.net/stats/cgi-bin/genstatspage.fcgi?rrdfile=/var/...
