Verifiy PEAP server certificate on Win8
In our environment, we instruct users to verify the CN name in the server certificate when connecting to the WPA2/AES secure WLAN. From my testing, it will be a problem with Win8 as when clicking on "certificate details", it does not show the CN name, only shows a long string of certificate thumbprint. There is no way for users to verify certificate like this. How would you resolve this? Thanks.

I expressed the same concern to our Microsoft account rep and he said he'd "pass this on to a group of technical specialists focused on Windows 8 and see what I can learn for you.". Interestingly, the Consumer Preview of Windows 8 did show human-readable cert details, though the Release Preview and later RTM do not. -- Wesley Davis Lead Network Engineer James Madison University
