Kind regards, Mark) *** CALL FOR A SPECIAL ISSUE ON COLLABORATIVE AND BLENDED eLEARNING: PRESENT AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS *** Educational Research and Evaluation Stewart Martin (University of Hull, UK) Michele Notari (University of Teacher Education, Switzerland) Educational Research and Evaluation is to publish a Special Issue on ‘Collaborative and Blended eLearning: Present and Future Developments’, guest- edited by Stewart Martin of Hull University, UK and Michele Notari of the University of Teacher Education, Bern, Switzerland. The Special Issue will critique the debate in the area, seek to advance the research field and, most importantly, demonstrate whether (and under what conditions) particular uses of collaborative eLearning technologies are more effective than established approaches to learning, teaching and assessment. This Special Issue will critically review the current situation, identify necessary developments and innovations in the research field and set out the agenda for future work in collaborative eLearning technologies. The Special Issue is intended to provide: 1 A ‘state of play report on where higher education institutions are with online course evaluations; this will include a ‘watershed’ review paper to indicate the current situation in comparing online and paper course evaluations and issues in the contemporary debate; 2 A review on online course evaluations compare with conventional paper evaluations; 3 An indication of new developments that have been made in online course evaluations, their usages (e.g. for course improvement, for developments in learning and its promotion, for innovations in learning and teaching, for new methods and uses of evaluation and assessment, for collegiality and shared planning, for feedback and action, for accountability, management and quality assurance etc.). 4 Papers which focus on innovative ways to use online ratings, including integrating them with other campus systems. In a way, this will constitute a comparison to traditional paper-pencil ratings because many of the things to be discussed would be very difficult to do with paper ratings. 5 Papers which have a strong and rigorous empirical element, underpinned by relevant theoretical and educational foundations, together with raising issues, tensions, challenges and agendas for the development of the uses of online course evaluations. If you would like to submit an article for the Special Edition, please forward it to Stewart Martin (stewart.martin@hull.ac.uk) to arrive no later than the end of June 2013. Submissions should be between 7,000 and 10,000 words and closely follow the journal publication guidelines (see: http://www.tandfonline.com/action/authorSubmission?journalCode=nere20&page =instructions ). The authors of accepted submissions will be notified by the end of August. Please note that papers will be subject to the normal blind peer review process of the Journal and that the outcomes of this will determine which papers are accepted for publication. The author(s) of reviewed papers will be notified of the outcome by the end of December 2013. The proposed date of publication is May/June 2014, subject to the journal and publisher’s schedules.
