Colleagues,

We have been investigating different options for our future mobile development efforts. The following assessment was provided to me and I'm curious if anyone in this group has concurring or dissenting opinions related to Kuali Mobile.

...
Kuali Mobile uses PhoneGap in such a minimal way that it's borderline misleading, as it essentially wastes the true benefits of a cross platform coding environment.  Kuali Mobile uses Phonegap as a wrapper, only to satisfy the need to have an app exist in a marketplace and on a user's device, beyond that, phonegap doesn't appear to be used.  I'm surprised that Apple would even allow Kuali Mobile based apps as they are commonly known to reject apps where the majority of content exists outside of an app.  Developers could essentially create an app and then switch out a full site to be something different once it received Apple's blessing,...

Description

In the previous volume of MML, we explored a broad variety of mobile learning activities, a variety of tools and methods across the globe. In this installment, we are hoping to make experimentation with mobile in educational settings feel like something anyone can begin doing. We wish to make the case for broad, grass roots experimentation with mobile as a way to pursue diverse educational goals.

Again, there will be breadth in content area, formality, and age of learners considered; a focus on concrete work will not only...

Hi all, I just like to announce a recently published book "iPads in the Classroom" "The current media landscape is changing and growing at a fast pace which is increasingly affecting the school sector. Numerous schools all over the world have already focused on the value added to lessons by tablet computers, such as Apple’s iPad. A myriad of learning applications and ways to transfer subject matters are provided on and through such devices. However, at the present time, there is little experience with respect to the didactically reasonable inclusion of tablets in schools. Therefore, the motivation of this book, which is based on a diploma thesis, is to provide a general overview of the didactical integration of tablets, in this case, Apple’s iPad. Within a field experiment educational apps are being tested and evaluated according to the Austrian curriculum for foreign languages as well as iOS Human Interface Guidelines that focus on...
