The 2012 Horizon Report, a joint undertaking of the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) and the New Media Consortium (NMC), is nearing completion. The NMC and ELI invite you to participate in one of the final stages: gathering examples or demonstrations of the technologies to be featured in the report. The examples can be in almost any form: production or pilot programs, research projects, faculty undertakings, or evaluation/assessment projects. It can involve any of the six technologies listed below. The intent is to give readers a more concrete sense of how these technologies will play out in the context of teaching and learning in higher education. The 2012 Horizon Report identifies six technologies:
TIME-TO-ADOPTION: ONE YEAR OR LESS
* Mobile apps
* Tablet computing
TIME-TO-ADOPTION: TWO TO THREE YEARS
* Game-based learning
* Learning analytics
TIME-TO-ADOPTION: FOUR TO FIVE YEARS
* Gesture-based computing
* Internet of things

. The time-to-adoption horizon indicates how long the advisory board feels it will be until a significant number of campuses are using each of these technologies broadly. Innovative faculty and campuses are already working in some of these areas, and this is where you come in.

. Please insert a title, a URL, and a one- or two-sentence description and some additional information. You also will need to select which of the six technologies fits your example. The process takes about two minutes and is due by January 9.
A number of these projects will be mentioned in the printed report, which will be released at the 2012 ELI Annual Meeting in February. In addition, we will invite some of the project leaders to present at the Horizon Report â€œunveilingâ€ sessions at the ELI Annual Meeting, in order to share their work directly with both face-to-face and online audiences.
