Does anyone know if the Air Force Academy is still active?

The problem is security. Until someone makes plugins that are intrinsic to most computers (as Adobe does with its PDF reader) it won't catch on. Really a shame since we in the military can really use immersive learning but are blocked from it because it requires downloads. -----Original Message----- From: The EDUCAUSE Virtual Worlds Constituent Group Listserv [mailto:VW@LISTSERV.EDUCAUSE.EDU] On Behalf Of Sharon Collingwood Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2013 1:00 PM To: VW@LISTSERV.EDUCAUSE.EDU Subject: Re: [VW] Broncoland I tried to download the client for Mac, but it wasn't available. Don't understand why more people aren't doing this, it's such a great idea. The client may be a problem, though, I remember when Case Western developed a campus in SL for the same reasons, but I think people couldn't get past the learning curve. Wonder if this an idea whose time has ALMOST come. With browser based clients starting up, (Cloud Party works well, and PixieViewer looks promising for OpenSim) perhaps we'll all have something like this very soon. Michigan is including students in this, but there's not a single female. How much time do you think they're going to spend on campus safety, for example?

Paul,

according to an E-mail I just received from Andrew Hughes, the Virtual Air Force Academy campus tour is still active.

Some more info can be found in the initial press release at launch, published by HyperGrid Business: http://www.hypergridbusiness.com/2011/04/us-air-force-academy-launches-virtual-campus-tour/
