Conference Schedule

To assist you with your travel planning, preconference activities begin on Tuesday, October 19, with the preconference seminars (please note, all preconference seminars require separate payment and registration). The first full conference activity is the opening of the exhibit hall on Tuesday. The main conference opens Wednesday, October 20 at 8:00 a.m. with the general session featuring Dr. James Duderstadt, Director, Millennium Project. The conference will close with the Friday, October 22 general session featuring Dr. Diana S. Natalicio, President, University of Texas at El Paso, which will end at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The best way to plan your conference schedule is to use our Itinerary Builder, which allows you to chart, save, update, download and print your conference schedule before you head to Denver. Track Sessions

The EDUCAUSE 2004 Program Committee designed the conference program based on six principal areas. All track sessions were chosen from the call for proposals process and provide the foundation for the annual conference.

Preconference Seminars

(NOTE: Separate registration and payment are required to attend.)
Come to Denver early to join us for a preconference seminar on Tuesday, October 19. We offer more than 35 exciting and educational half- or full-day seminars on a wide range of topics, and you are certain to find one that fits your professional development needs.

Poster Sessions

Informal, drop-in poster sessions will be held Wednesday and Thursday, 4:55–6:10 p.m., allowing conferees to share campus experiences with colleagues on a one-to-one basis. This is your chance to learn exactly what you need to know about interesting initiatives. >> At a glance

Corporate Presentations

Professional presentations address technological issues and solutions pertaining to higher education. Prepared and delivered by representatives from corporations and/or institutions, these sessions may include demonstrations of new technology. >> At a glance

Corporate Workshops

Gain hands-on experience with potential technology solutions for your institution. These workshops, presented by leading companies in higher education, will provide you with a better understanding of their technological capabilities. >> At a glance

Constituent Group Meetings

Nearly thirty member-driven special-interest groups will meet in five different time slots. These informal meetings are open to all professionals who want to talk with colleagues about areas of common interest. The EDUCAUSE Constituent Group program includes electronic listservs for ongoing discussion. >> At a glance

Current Issues Roundtables

Moderated, colleague-to-colleague roundtable discussion sessions will focus on topical campus issues and challenges related to information resources and technology. They will be held Wednesday and Thursday, 4:55–6:10 p.m. Attendance will be limited. >> At a glance

Organizational Update Sessions

Representatives of EDUCAUSE and collaborating organizations will describe their strategic directions and priorities, major issues, and initiatives. These sessions, which will allow time for questions and comments, are excellent forums for learning more about the organization and key staff members. >> At a glance

Meetings

All EDUCAUSE standing member advisory committees (both current and incoming members) meet in conjunction with the conference. Many other organizations with similar interests and participants also hold ancillary meetings during this event. >> At a glance

Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions

Impromptu BOFS allow small groups to talk about areas of particular professional interest over lunch on Wednesday and Thursday. Institutional representatives may schedule on-site meetings using the BOF bulletin board near the conference registration desk. Table signs will direct participants to designated areas in the conference lunch room.

Award Presentations

Recipients of the 2004 EDUCAUSE awards will be honored at the general session on Thursday morning, and all award winners will describe their work in Thursday's track and poster sessions.

Corporate Participation

More than 180 corporations will showcase the latest IT products and services for higher education. In addition to this dynamic exhibit hall, corporate participants will deliver presentations, conduct hands-on workshops , and sponsor exciting special events, including the Tuesday evening Exhibit Hall Opening Reception and the Wild West Fest.

Thursday night's Wild West Fest is sure to bring out the cowpoke in you! Join us for a real Rocky Mountain rodeo, featuring the Westernaires precision horse riding team, trick riders, and barrel racing. Feel like dancing instead? Learn how to line dance and listen to honky-tonk piano or a live country-and-western band. Or, test your skills and try your luck at the Old West gambling casino. Mosey on down to meet fellow conference participants and enjoy fun sideshows, food, and drink. Cowboy hat not required!
