ECAR Annual Study of Students and IT
View current findings on higher education undergraduates' use of information technology, and learn how your institution can participate in this annual research effort.
"Understanding the rapidly changing student experience with educational technology requires research that is broad in scope, rigorous in implementation, and patient in its commitment to taking the long view. The ECAR series of student surveys has all of this and is essential to understanding where our students are coming from, where they are now, and where they're going."
─ J.D. Walker, Research Fellow, Educational Technology Services, University of Minnesota
Technology is a critical part of students’ learning environments—this is true for traditional brick-and-mortar classrooms as well as e-learning settings. This annual study explores technology ownership, use patterns, and perceptions of technology among higher education undergraduate students. Because of the importance of this topic, ECAR makes this study publicly accessible upon release.
The 2012 Study
In 2012, ECAR collaborated with 195 institutions to collect responses from more than 100,000 students about their technology experiences. Visit the research hub to view the report and accompanying materials.
