About the Meeting
The EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative Annual Meeting was held February 4-6, 2013, face-to-face in Denver at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel and online.
The theme was, "Advancing the Next Generation of Learning." The next generation of learning involves the orchestration of a broad range of innovations and campus resources. It focuses on the rapid evolution of learning technology, charting its migration from the desktop to the cloud and highly mobile devices. It explores the ecosystem of the learning environment, looking to provide a personalized experience that contributes to greater student success. It entails seeking evidence of impact, recognizing the need to evaluate and share what works. In short, the move towards the next generation of learning is higher education re-inventing itself.
At the ELI Annual Meeting, through a highly interactive and engaging program, we exchanged ideas, innovations, and results within the overall context of moving towards the next generation of learning.
General session speakers were Vincent Tinto, Distinguished University Professor, Syracuse University; Larry Johnson, Chief Executive Officer, The New Media Consortium; Roy Pea, David Jacks Professor, Stanford University; Robbie Kendall-Melton, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for eLearning, Tennessee Board of Regents.
