Session Type: Presentation Session: Curriculum Development
This talk will review the range of different approaches being pursued to develop curriculum using open educational content, including the standard model of authoring individually or in small teams, authoring by large distributed teams, authoring by professional writing organizations, and authoring by "shutouts" from the standard model. Our particular focus will be on content projects in Connexions (http://cnx.org), one of the world's first and largest open education initiatives. Participants will learn the manifold ways that subject matter experts can contribute to open education projects, the current opportunities and challenges associated with authoring in open education projects, and how to get directly involved in open education content development.
