SEI Case Brief: Assessing the "Effectiveness" of Podcasts to Support Learning in Inquiry-Based Chemistry Labs
Wednesday
Apr 13th, 2011
4:45 PM - 5:15 PM
Session Type: Activity Menu, Option 2
Over the past three years podcasts have been prepared and deployed to be accessed on iPhones or iPod touches during laboratory sessions taught with an inquiry-based curriculum. Research has been conducted in an effort to determine the effectiveness of these resources in three major areas: the extent of podcast usage, the numbers and types of interactions between instructors and laboratory groups, and student performance on graded assignments. This session will discuss the development of tools and procedures used in collecting and analyzing the data.
