ELI Web SeminarsThe EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI, formerly NLII) presents ELI Web Seminars, a series of hour-long interactive Web conferences focusing on teaching, learning, and technology issues. Made available as a service to ELI members, ELI Web Seminars are live, synchronous events in which participants can pose questions for the presenters and chat with other attendees. Participants and other members of ELI institutions will also have access to archived seminars to view at their convenience. Only ELI members can participate in a Web Seminar and access the seminar archive for 6 months from the seminar date. After that, ELI will open the seminar archive for public access. ELI Web Seminars offer another venue for professional development and let you extend the learning that takes place at our face-to-face events such as the annual meeting and focus sessions. ELI plans to hold nine Web Seminars a year starting in 2006. Because enrollment in each live seminar is limited, we recommend that you register early. If a seminar is filled, or if another time would be more convenient, ELI members can access the recorded session from the archive page after the live date. Please see the Archive for a complete list of past ELI Web Seminars, and the Upcoming Seminars page for a list of future seminars.
NOTE: As of March 2008, we are now using Adobe Connect to host our web seminars. Whether you’ve participated in an ELI web seminar before or you’re joining us for the first time, please run the Adobe Acrobat Connect Connection Test before the event. The test takes approximately 30 seconds and will verify that your computer meets hardware and software requirements to use Adobe Connect, and will provide instructions for installing Adobe Flash, if needed. If you have problems completing the test or installing required software, please contact support@clarix.com, or visit Adobe Support for more information. If you are having audio or video issues during the event, please see our Adobe Connect Frequently Asked Questions page. If you need further assistance, please contact EDUCAUSE Member Services at 303-449-4430. How It WorksWho leads the seminar? Each seminar is hosted by ELI Interim Director Julie K. Little and will feature one or more guests who are leaders in their fields with expertise in the topic at hand. How does an ELI Web Seminar work?In general, the host and guest will discuss the topic and respond to questions submitted by seminar participants through the interactive Web site. Generally, the guest will do an initial presentation, using PowerPoint slides, Web tours, or other online resources, and then engage in dialogue with the host and online participants. What are the technical requirements? You must have an Internet connection speed of 56K or better and cookies enabled in your browser to participate. Please see the technical information page to learn more. How do I register? You must register for each seminar individually and only after registration is open for that particular seminar. Spaces for each seminar are limited, so you should register as soon as you can commit to the scheduled time. |
