Adapting the MOOC to Achieve Institutional Goals

Wednesday, April 30 | 2:30PM–3:15PM | Harborside Ballroom B
Session Type: Professional Development
As large numbers of academic institutions address the challenges of incorporating MOOCs into strategies to attract and retain degree-seeking students, reduce college attendance costs, and integrate MOOC content with other resources, the MOOC, as initially conceived is being modified to fit specific agendas. This session will share insights into the variety of approaches being implemented at two- and four-year institutions based on the Quality Matters program's work in evaluating MOOCs through its design Rubric for Continuing and Professional Education courses, and challenge the participants to discuss the choices they face in modifying MOOCs to achieve their institutional goals.

OUTCOMES:
Recognize how MOOCs are being modified to meet the objectives of institutions, foundations, and government agencies * Categorize the impact MOOC modifications to achieve specific institutional goals * Investigate Quality Matters standards that can provide institutions with evaluation and constructive feedback on MOOC development
