Connecting Digital Literacies for All Learners: Employing Universal Design for Learning through Mobile Technologies

This poster session explores the changing literacy landscape in college classrooms utilizing a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework. Participants will examine instructional activities designed to provide digital literacy learning opportunities for graduate-level students. Hands-on use of a variety of mobile learning devices will be encouraged as participants consider the affordances these digital tools offer for engaging all literacy learners. Participants will consider how these hands-on literacy experiences may influence their own future pedagogical practices by considering the central tenets of UDL and infusing these through mobile technologies.

*Examine student digital literacy instructional activities used at the university level
*Explore mobile tools appropriate for literacy learning
*Compare their own literacy and navigation preferences between mobile devices
*Consider the affordances each tool offers to develop instructional plans consistent with Universal Design for Learning
*Examine and share ideas regarding how their literacy experiences during the session may influence pedagogical decisions in the future
