EDUCAUSE LIVE! - The Legal Side of MOOCs
The Legal Side of MOOCs
Date: September 26, 2013
Time: 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. ET (UTC-4); convert to your time zone
Host: Diana Oblinger, President and CEO, EDUCAUSE
Speaker: Madelyn Wessel, Associate General Counsel, University of Virginia
MOOCs raise the possibility of learning without boundaries, but important legal considerations still come into play: How does copyright apply to the delivery of course materials in the MOOC context? What about laws governing accessibility for persons with disabilities? Are there important privacy issues to address? In this webinar, Madelyn Wessel, associate general counsel for the University of Virginia, will discuss the legal landscape pertaining to MOOCS, including course production, data creation, copyright, privacy, and conduct issues.
This presentation is part of an EDUCAUSE Live! Game Changers Spotlight Series focusing on higher education in the connected age.
