Seminar 2P - Exploring Strategies for Physical and Virtual Computing Spaces (separate registration required)

In the past, computing spaces at many institutions of higher education were designed to meet the needs of a student population that did not possess or have access to computing technology in any other way. Now with many students possessing their own computers and most students at least having access to a computer, the need for computing spaces has evolved. Given challenges that campuses are facing with constrained space, shrinking budgets, and increasing demand for technology resources, we must explore new models for computing spaces. Seminar participants will discuss how current computing spaces do or do not meet the needs of faculty and students and what can be done when they don't. We will address the physical and virtual aspects of general access labs, instructional labs, learning spaces, and modular approaches and how distance and hybrid learning models impact the need for computing spaces.
