Charles R. GrahamCharles R. Graham

Charles R. Graham is a Professor of Instructional Psychology and Technology at Brigham Young University, with interest in technology-mediated teaching and learning. Graham studies the design and evaluation of blended learning environments and the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. He has authored articles in over two dozen journals and has published work related to online and blended learning environments in edited books including Online Collaborative Learning: Theory and Practice, Blended Learning: Research Perspectives, and The Encyclopedia of Distance Learning. Graham also coedited the Handbook of Blended Learning: Global Perspectives, Local Designs, which contains 39 chapters with examples of blended learning in higher education, corporate, and military contexts from around the world. He is currently coediting a volume titled, Blended Learning: Research Perspectives, Volume 2, with 21 chapters on current research practices in blended learning. His research publications can be found online.

Wendy Woodfield PorterWendy Woodfield Porter

Wendy Woodfield Porter is an attorney and a PhD candidate in Instructional Psychology and Technology at Brigham Young University. Her research focuses on institutional adoption of blended learning. She is also on the board of directors for AISU, a K–12 school implementing blended learning.

 

Summary

Join Malcolm Brown, Director of the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative, and Veronica Diaz, Associate Director of ELI, as they moderate this webinar with Charles Graham and Wendy Woodfield Porter. While many studies have investigated blended learning effectiveness at the course level, very few provide guidance for adoption and implementation of blended learning at the institutional level. Accordingly, this webinar will share a framework for institutional adoption and implementation of blended learning that was developed from research exploring the efforts of over a dozen institutions of higher education. Graham and Porter will identify some key markers related to institutional strategy, structure, and support that allow universities and colleges to gauge what kind of progress they are making towards institutionalizing blended learning. Participants will discuss key issues that administrators should be aware of in order to guide their institutions to progress along the stages of (1) Awareness/Exploration, (2) Adoption/Early Implementation, and (3) Mature Implementation/Growth.
