Mastering Puppet: Using Puppet to Centrally Manage IT Security Infrastructure

Tuesday, April 13 | 11:45AM–12:45PM | International D (6th floor)
Session Type: Professional Development
As our IT security infrastructure expands and becomes more complex, it can be a challenge to maintain consistent configuration and architecture across all components. Puppet is a free, open-source tool that can make this task much easier at minimal cost. Combined with a revision control system, Puppet can make configuring and deploying UNIX-based systems fast, easy, scalable, and more secure. This presentation aims to give an introduction to how Puppet works, its capabilities, and how you can use it to greatest effect in an IT security environment, using our experiences at NYU as a case study.
