Sustainable IT Constituent Group

This EDUCAUSE constituent group discusses the opportunities to reduce green house gas emissions through our IT infrastructure. The IT infrastructure includes data centers and server rooms, networks and switches, as well as desktop computers and office equipment. Additionally, we will look at green house gas reduction opportunities that IT can enable and promote—such as video conferencing and Presence. Finally, we recognize that significant savings can be achieved by working closely with Facilities, since cooling demands significant energy usage, so we will include discussion of Facility & IT interface opportunities as well.

This group meets at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference and uses this list to discuss issues throughout the year.
