H1N1 (Swine Flu) is the latest infectious disease to reach possible pandemic levels. To help you gather information or discuss possible implications with other higher ed colleagues EDUCAUSE has two discussion groups that may be of assistance. Join one or both of these EDUCAUSE groups to connect with higher ed colleagues discussing emergency preparedness and related communication issues.
Business Continuity Management Constituent Group
This EDUCAUSE constituent group provides a forum for strategic and tactical discussions regarding the ability of institutions of higher education to maintain or restore business and academic services when some circumstance disrupts normal operations. Discussion topics may include considerations of disaster recovery-the activities that restore the institution to an acceptable condition after suffering a disaster-as well as activities such as risk and impact assessment, prioritization of business processes, and restoring operations to a "new normal" after an event.
IT Communications Constituent Group
This EDUCAUSE constituent group addresses the challenge that IT professionals and organizations face in communicating strategically and clearly to user communities, internal and external constituencies, campus leadership, and within the IT organization itself. Topics for discussion are broad, ranging from best practices and lessons learned to feedback and/or deconstruction of communiqués written by participants.
