The Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act—otherwise known as the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA)—is meant to address the issue of websites infringing copyright and intellectual property. However, this legislation contains provisions that (as stated in a joint letter signed by EDUCAUSE in May 2011) “continue to threaten the stability, freedom, and economic potential of the Internet.” Want to know more?
