Access Control to Workstations in Computer Labs

Abstract
California State University, Hayward (CSUH) determined there was a need to prevent unauthorized users from accessing workstations in publicly available computer labs. The system would need to unlock the station at check-in and lock it at check-out. Additional concerns about hackers trying to use lab machines for spam or virus distribution made user identification and tracking imperative. To meet these needs, CSUH instituted a computer lab management system that provides centralized check-in, workstation locking, and surveillance.
