Abstract
On January 7-9, 1999, the EDUCAUSE Net@EDU program facilitated a conference for higher education IT and policy professional to explore how best to prepare the broader higher education community for the advanced networking technology, lessons, and opportunities presented by current advanced networking initiatives such as Internet2 and NGI. The "Institutional Opportunities for Advanced Networking" meeting included 190 persons from institutions spanning the Carnegie classes. This paper reports on recommendations that came from that meeting.
