Barton Welcomes DOJ Crackdown on Sexual Offenders

Abstract

"House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Joe Barton, R-Texas, commended the Department of Justice for the arrest of 1,102 alleged sexual offenders and announced that next week the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold the third in its series of hearings entitled, "Sexual Exploitation of Children Over the Internet: What Parents, Kids and Congress Need to Know About Child Predators." Barton said, "The sexual exploitation and abuse of children over the Internet has reached a crisis point. Our next hearing on this subject will take place next week, and I look forward to hearing a full update from the Department of Justice on its efforts to deal with this trade in misery. We're not going to stop until the job is done."
