Abstract
Users expect that online services will be 100 percent available. The challenge is to cost-effectively provide high availability applications, and thus underlying middleware and infrastructure. At Penn, our architectural principles have been used to design for highly available systems. We'll describe the principles and specific implementations, as well as the real gains in availability.
