The Economic Development Case for Investment in Higher Education Information Technology

Abstract

With the Indiana Pervasive Computing Research Initiative as a case study, this research bulletin explores how investments in higher education information technology research can drive community and regional economic development. It explores underlying principles, such as workforce development, training, and retention, that are mutually advantageous to the institution and to the local economy, as well as how these principles can be applied to spur investments in higher education IT efforts.
