Abstract
This article was written by and for university administrators, although the principles described apply to faculty and students as well. The authors share their knowledge of electronic mail -- what it is, how it works, how it can be used by campus administrators -- and national and international academic networks -- how to get connected, how much it costs, how to use BITNET and Internet. Included are "pointers" to additional resources such as special interest group mailing lists and selected Internet-accessible library catalogs and databases.
