Abstract
Partnering across institutions and with other sectors of the economy has become essential for higher education institutions to accomplish their goals in strained economic times. Yet not everyone assigned to partner has the skills and attitudes needed for successful partnerships and many partnerships are not initially structured for success. These challenges can be overcome if they are recognized early and remediated using strategies gleaned from studies of successful partnerships.
