Abstract
Providing convenient and affordable access to an institutionis network for all students, faculty, and staff at any time and from almost any location has become a goal for many colleges and universities. This Viewpoint article discusses justifications for this goal, emphasizes the importance of standardizing hardware and software configurations, and offers suggestions for implementation.
