Good Teaching Is Good Teaching: An Emerging Set of Guiding Principles and Practices for the Design and Development of Distance Education

Abstract

Recent literature has noted that the distinction between distance education and technologically supported traditional education has become somewhat blurred with the increased use of technology to facilitate learning in higher education. This article describes a faculty initiative project and presents a set of principles and practices developed by faculty from three universities who were involved in designing distance education programs. Principles were developed in five categories addressing issues related to the design and development of a quality educational experience.
