Green IT Survey
Tuesday, May 26, 2009
Abstract
This May 2009 survey is a critical component of the EDUCAUSE Center on Applied Research (ECAR) study of how higher education information technology (IT) organizations are participating in institutional efforts toward environmental responsibility, both as a consumer of resources and as an enabler of solutions. The survey examines environmental sustainability initiatives at three levels: the institution as a whole, the central IT organization, and distributed IT. It addresses a broad spectrum of practices, ranging from electrical power sourcing to server virtualization to IT's role in minimizing unnecessary travel.
