Abstract
Decentralized computing inventories present special management problems. Effective centralized responses can be developed by creating voluntary programs that diffuse good management practices throughout the organization. DePaul's desktop computer leasing program and Arizona's "technology refresh bank" offer contrasting strategies for effective management of campuswide computing resources.
